The Arab Footballing Giants set to clash in Qatar!

As the Tokyo Games wind down, all eyes will now shift to the world of football! The next major football event on the calendar is the Arab Cup which will replace the Confederations Cup as a dress rehearsal for the 2022 FWC.

This will be the first time the neighbouring GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries will play matches on Qatari soil since the blockade ended. The hosts are looking forward to welcoming fans from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and other neighbouring countries.

As the local experts, we are here to advise you on our top picks for accommodation, shopping and day trips when coming to Qatar.

SHOPPING?

A side street in Souq Waqif

The Souq Waqif

If you are looking to do some souvenir and traditional Qatari goods shopping, want a bite to eat, or are feeling adventurous and would like to explore, look no further than the Souq Waqif in Doha.

Bear in mind most of the stores close from noon until 4 pm, but if you are looking for a great night out, the Souq is the place to be.

This labyrinth bazaar is the oldest Souq in Qatar and a major tourist destination by itself.

No trip to the Souq would be complete without trying one of the many eateries on offer. A popular choice in our office is Damasca One!

DAY TRIPS?

A traditional Dhow fishing boat

A Doha fishing trip

Our next suggestion goes against the grain, a unique tour that our team highly recommends.

A Doha fishing trip combines a full day of fishing with a traditional meal prepared onboard!

Your expedition sets sail from Doha Port in a traditional dhow where all your fishing equipment is provided. Once you have made your catch your chef will barbecue it for you, right on board!

Trips are offered twice daily, either early morning or afternoon departure time, depending on what works best for your schedule.

Our local office would love to hear from you! To secure your accommodation for the 2021 FAC contact your trusted account manager, or simply pop us an email at hello@khaya.global
